MORE THAN TWO CENTURIES OF HISTORY
Encompassed by a rich tapestry of history, our project finds its roots in a piece of land that has been in our family for over 190 years. We are proud to present a legacy that has withstood the test of time, an enduring testament to our dedication and commitment.

Late 1700s
During the Viceroyalty of the Kingdom of New Granada, Manuel Santamaría y Fernández de Salazar, a distinguished businessman born in Anzó, Burgos, Spain, decided to venture to Medellín in search of commercial opportunities. His business acumen not only brought him prosperity but also led him to become the Mayor of Medellín on two occasions, during 1773 to 1786.

Early 1800s
Juan José Santamaría Isaza, son of Manuel, engaged in business with the English during the Viceroyalty and played a crucial role in supporting independence. He purchased bonds for José María Córdoba's Liberating Army, actively contributing to Antioquia and Colombia's independence. Alongside two partners, he acquired land in southwestern Antioquia, fostering economic and agricultural development. Importantly, he founded the municipality of Caramanta, leaving a lasting legacy in its history and progress

Late 1800s
Two of Juan's sons, Alejandro Santamaria and Santiago Santamaria, played pivotal roles in the region. Alejandro served as a capitalist governor of Antioquia, contributing significantly to the region's economic development. Meanwhile, Santiago founded the beautiful municipality of Jerico, leaving an enduring mark on the area's cultural and historical landscape.

1900s
The family rose to prominence in cattle farming and dairy activities in the low tropics, specifically in the Poblanco Valley in the southwestern Antioquia region. They established Santamaria Hermanos, a cattle brand known for its outstanding specimens and a renowned estate that holds historical significance in the region. Notably, in the background, one can find an illustration of the Guaico House, adding a visual representation to the rich history of the family's endeavors.
